New England Intelligent Transportation Society Presents:
The 26th NEITS Annual Interchange:
Safe and Equitable Transportation through Emerging Technologies

Thursday, October 9, 2025
2025 Annual Interchange Theme:
Security and Resiliency for Intelligent Transportation Systems.
As Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) become increasingly interconnected and reliant on digital technologies, they face growing vulnerabilities to cyber threats and disruptions. Ensuring the security and resilience of these systems is paramount to maintaining safe and efficient transportation networks. This year's Interchange will explore strategies and innovations aimed at protecting ITS infrastructure and ensuring rapid recovery from adverse events.
The Interchange will be held on Thursday October 9, at the Windham Boston Beacon Hill Hotel.

This conference is an exciting one day program of panel discussions, technical sessions, and presentations. Our mission is to facilitate the transfer of knowledge between the public, private and academic sectors.
CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
Deadline to submit abstracts is
Friday, August 1, 2025
New England ITS is now accepting abstracts for presentation at this year’s Annual Interchange. This year's theme, Security and Resiliency for Intelligent Transportation Systems, focuses on fortifying transportation networks against evolving threats while ensuring continuous, safe, and equitable mobility for all users.
We invite contributions from practitioners, researchers, policymakers, and industry partners engaged in developing, implementing, and evaluating ITS solutions that enhance the security and resilience of transportation systems. Please note - we are looking for project overviews and case examples, not sales pitches for these technical sessions. We encourage partnerships between the public and private sector to collaboratively present on a topic.
We welcome abstracts on topics including, but not limited to:
-
Resilient System Architectures and Cybersecurity Measures for ITS: Approaches to ensuring critical ITS functions (e.g., traffic management, communications) continue during hardware failures, disasters, or other service interruptions.
-
Risk Assessment and Management: Methodologies for identifying and mitigating risks associated with ITS deployments, including threat modeling and vulnerability assessments.
-
Resiliency Testing and Simulation Tools for ITS Systems: Methodologies for stress-testing ITS platforms through simulated disruptions (e.g., digital twins, scenario-based modeling).
-
Cost of Ownership: Total expenses associated with owning an asset, which includes the purchase price and ongoing operational costs. Innovations in costing.
-
Policy, Funding, and Procurement: Innovations, hurdles and processes that affect ITS infrastructure deployment.
-
ITS Performance Under Extreme Weather and Climate Events: Innovations to maintain ITS functionality and reliability during hurricanes, flooding, wildfires, or extreme temperatures.
-
Public-Private Partnerships: Collaborative efforts between government agencies and private sector entities to bolster ITS deployments, security, and resilience.
-
Emerging Technologies: Exploration of new technologies, such as artificial intelligence and blockchain, in enhancing the security and resilience of ITS.
-
Sustainable ITS: Approaches to make ITS projects sustainable, improve efficiency, safety, and improve project lifecycle.
Your abstract should be between 250 and 500 words. To submit your abstract, please complete this form by August 1, 2025. If you have any questions regarding the abstract submission, please contact Britton Johnson at britton.johnson@kimley-horn.com and Sushma Srinivas at sushma.srinivas@aecom.com.
All submissions will be peer-reviewed by the Abstract committee. Selected abstracts will be invited for presentation at the Annual Interchange. Presenters will be notified of selection in late August 2025.
